Covid-19 — a Reminder to Human Kind?

Covid-19, the pandemic started its first spread in last November. Out of the blue, in a ‘wet market’ as sources reveal where animals (including wild animals) are tortured to death to serve humans. Well, what is this ‘thing?’ is the question most people asked, and still asks — those are unaware what a virus is. This little being in the middle of a living and non-living had the ability (correction: still has) to make us sick, to make us distant from our loved ones, to make us pause things that we were doing, to make us unemployed, to create a global economic recession, to stop our parties, to create travel bans — even domestically, to kill and affect millions, to force us to wear face masks and sanitize or wash our hands, to make us quarantine for days, weeks and months under lockdowns. Wow!

Well, Coronavirus also has the ability to change our lifestyles in to a hygiene focused one (still it is a temporary practice for most of our kind, though), to create an understanding on family and bonds, to help us focus on our goals in a relaxed approach, to ignite the entrepreneurial spark in the talented, to introduce innovative ways of connecting, working and learning (when did e-learning was a substitute for physical classes right?), to motivate us to focus on our immune systems in a healthy way, to create improvements in air quality, to ban dog meat in China (truly a relief to stop that blood shedding Yulin festival! Even animal activists could not resist this, completely!)

And most of all, Covid-19 has impacted humanity; persuading them to work, strive hard day and night towards one goal — to create a solution to fight against it. Covid-19 has motivated us human kind to wish for one wish this 2020 — to eliminate Covid-19 from the whole world! Whole world reciting one prayer, wishing for one wish.

Covid-19 reminds us of unity, our kind. While, still there are miserable beings in the midst of the pandemic that take worthless discriminating factors and worsens the situation. After all, attitudes cannot be taught. This invisible virus has been able to create a gigantic impact to every single one of us — humans! The moral is, no matter who, what, where - we are just one kind to this nature. Homo sapiens! This cannot be segregated or discriminated by a price tag or caste or religion.

We feel the same heat from the sun that shines to America, to Kenya to Japan. We feel the same pain our own kind feels. Covid-19 finds no discrimination, we are all just victims for it regardless of how rich we are, what we eat or wear. This reminds us of us… and nothing else! Just like God has rung a bell up from heavens for whole earth to hear, Covid-19 reminds us life is temporary. If we exist, we will be a part of this historical reminder.

Let us pray, that there won’t be another reminder.
